Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC) Shuffle Mini Game

Category: eLearning Courses
Short name: ancsmg7727
Course start date: 09/13/2025

Description

In this educational game, learners test their knowledge of identifying the likely causes of low ANC by evaluating a group of 6 patients. By progressively ordering tests and asking questions, learners will ultimately propose a cause for each patient’s low ANC and what clinical management is required. This activity is suitable as a knowledge and skills refresher after completing the Understanding Duffy Status and Neutrophil Count course or as a way to evaluate baseline knowledge prior to beginning the course.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this activity, learners should be able to:

  • Identify likely cause of low ANC based on symptoms and laboratory tests
  • Describe the features that distinguish likely cases of DANC from pathological neutropenia

Target Audience

Hematologists, nurse practitioners, physician associates, primary care physicians, and other health care professionals who are involved in a workup following a low ANC.
