Systems-based hematology aims to optimize the care delivery system for patients with blood disorders in an effort to increase the quality of care while maximizing scarce resources. Examples of successful systems-based hematology projects include anticoagulation stewardship programs, implementation of virtual consultation and chart reviews such as eConsults, efforts to correct anemia prior to surgery as a way to minimize the need for perioperative transfusion, and implementation of diagnostic pathways to minimize unnecessary testing.  This webinar will focus on examples of systems-based hematology and options for teaching and mentoring others as they develop projects and careers in this focus.
